Country Brick Quilt

51 x 63

I made this brick quilt with the leftover fat quarter pieces from the Castle Dreams quilt. I added an accent fabric and a few browns.  This quilt has a totally different look that castle dreams even though I used the same fabric.

The accent fabric is the cream fabric with brown leaves. I chose it because there were no light prints in the collection. It softens up the quilt more than a dark fabric would have.   I quilted it in a meander and added a strip to the back to make the green fabric big enough. I even got all my scraps cut and put away from every quilt I have made recently.

I'm feeling pretty good about only having one quilt in the works. I guess it's time to go play with some fabric and see what quilts I want to make for the rest of the year.  That's the fun part of quilting!

Trip Around the World

51 x 63

Myra at Busy Hands Quilts was hosting a Trip Around the World Quilt-A-Long over the last few weeks.  Here's what I made.  I has some fabric I wanted to use up, but I didn't have enough to make a whole quilt, so I ended up alternating each color with a background fabric.

I was in the mood to try something different for the quilting.  So I started with alternating loops in white squares.  Okay, I ended up with alternating loops in the white squares too.  I was going to do the prints as well, but decided that might be too much. After washing, the texture is just as nice as if I had meandered it.

As always, I used up some leftovers on the back.  Most of the prints came from the "ol tub" of fabric I'm trying to use up.  Even the background print came from there.  The tub is still full of fabric! It's just that none of it goes together!

Thanks Myra for this fun quilt-a-long!

Modern Baby Quilt in Greens

40 x 45

This is my second solid half square triangle baby quilt.  You can see my first one here.  These are so fun to make. I'd really like to make some more and keep playing with colors (like blue and green combo or an orange orange combo), but it's probably time to work on some other projects. This baby quilt is made from Kona Cotton.  The colors I used were Sprout, Grass Green, Pepper, Medium Gray, Shadow, and White.

Found this gray print in my stash. I must have missed it when looking for a back on the yellow quilt. Funny how we can have things right in front of us and not see them.

Light green binding to soften the solids a little.  This quilt is for sale in my shop!

Charming Plus Quilt

54 x 66
This is my Charming Plus quilt for the Charming Plus Quilt-A-Long that was hosted by Tisha from Quilty Therapy. I chose to use up my scraps from my 2.5" and 5" scrap bins. I had so much fun going through my scraps and picking out the fabrics.

As it turns out, I was able to use some of my weirder scraps because they blend in so well.  I have a piece that says "I love you", a few Christmas scraps, and a piece that is mostly red (you might be able to find it in the photo above).

I added some fun to the back by using 5" squares to make bigger blocks.  I just didn't have enough bright colors to make any more than this and I ran out of black, white, and gray prints too. This quilt really goes through the scraps!

I went with a grayish looking back and black binding to try to make my quilt more adult looking.  It's a bright and happy quilt that should make someone smile! Thanks to Tisha for hosting this fun quilt a long!

Fire Within Wall Hanging

29.5 x 78

This is my latest customer quilt/wall hanging.  You can find the pattern here.  She chose this beautiful 25 quarter yard set of Anthology BeColourful Fabrics.  It was an easy quilt to put together and the directions were very clear. It was a fun project! Hope you are all getting some time to quilt before the holidays hit!

Here's my Trip Around the World top finished.  Myra is hosing a quilt along using different fabric, but I wanted to quilt along so I picked some country colors from my stash. Myra's quilt is amazing! Stop by and check it out here.  I'll post more about mine when I get it finished.

Alternate Ending Rainbow Quilt

 70 x 70

This is my lasted customer quilt and it is stunning!  It's call The Alternate Ending because you can turn the 4 quadrants in different directions to get 4 different looks.  I think the pattern is way over priced because this quilt only comes in one size and you are forced to use the specific ruler she details in the description.  The pattern isn't really a pattern, more of a process to help you layout the quilt.
You can find the pattern here. The result is still a beautiful quilt and my customer is over the moon happy with it.

She purchased hand dyed fabrics and had them shipped to me.  It was hard sewing this type of fabric as it seemed tightly woven.  An even though it's cotton, it has a different feel to it. It's not as soft as Kona.  She also chose a bright pink thread.  I was really worried that this wouldn't look good, but it actually turned out great.

She sent me this tie-dyed sheet to use for the back. It's soft and a little worn from use, but it quilted perfectly on my longarm. One thing I learned from this project is that HSTs take way more time than I thought. I kept track of my time on this quilt and I undercharged my customer. It took just over 19 hours to finish mostly because of the HSTs.

Yellow and Gray Patchwork and Stash Report

58.5 x 67.5

I saved the best for last!  The yellow and gray has finally come to an end.  Mostly because I am out of fabrics in these colors. This one is a simple patchwork quilt with an added white border for some interest.

All these squares came from my 5" scrap bin.  And I almost didn't have enough when I added the white border in there.  I think I had to cut some from my stash to finish the strip on the back.  I do love this quilt.  I wish I had a room in my house that it would go with so I could keep it. But I don't, so it is for sale in my etsy shop.

October Stash Report
About half the fabric coming in this month was from gift cards and prizes.  And that's a good thing.  It almost can't be counted!  But I did count it. I bought some solids this month to finish up some gifts and a couple quilts I'm working on.  Had to do it, you know how it goes.
