Here's a cute spring quilt I just finished. It started out a with a different pattern though. If you look at the picture below you will see large blocks of 5 pieces. It seemed too blah or something. What could I do to change it? I cut each block into 4ths like a DNP. That made the pieces much smaller. I think it helped...what do you think?

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Wall Hanging
So many pretty quilts to see at the Blogger's Quilt Festival put on by Amy's Creative Side. Here's my entry for wall hanging.
I made this quilt after I repainted my sewing room. (It used to be our school room and the walls were blue, red, orange, and green. And yes, I loved the colors for that purpose!) My new color was turquoise and I wanted to hang a quilt on the wall, but all my other quilts were too big. So I picked some colors that would be bright enough for my taste, yet not clash with the wall.
Here it is on the wall. The walls are not baby blue, but really turqoise. It's in a corner of the room that is dark and hard to photo. I picked this carpenter star pattern because a throw size quilt of half square triangles sounded painful! I figured a smaller version would help get me through my fear. It did. I love this quilt and I have a larger HST quilt in progress.
The quilting was simple - straight lines on the prints, semi-mirco stippling in the white and feathers in the borders. I say semi because I have never stippled so small before and that was as small as I started out and knew it would look funny if I went any smaller. Small stippling can be quite the workout - but it was totally worth it!

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Throw Quilt
I hope you have been enjoying the Blogger's Quilt Festival. If you don't know what that is or you haven't entered your quilt yet, you can go HERE to find out! There are many beautiful quilts to be seen.
My entry is this pretty quilt that I made for our church's quilt minsitry. We give quilts to people who are hurting or who need a special hug. This particular quilt was a work of love for me. I don't usually custom quilt our quilts, mainly because of how much time it takes. But this one seemed to need something different! Half way through I remembered why I don't like to custom quilt!!! I think I need to post that by my machine...remember why!
The red rectangles have a diamond pattern in them with e's and l's surrounding.
One more picture that shows that the blue quilting lines are supposed to look like they run through the quilt.

Each large print has an encouraging word quilted in it. The one above says faith. I aslo used joy, peace, hope, and comfort. I hope that whoever receives this quilt will be comforted by these words, knowing that the Father loves them so much. The back shows all the detail of the quilting.
