Castle Dreams

 52.5 x 68

This is new pattern from Myra at Busy Hands Quilts called Castle Dreams.  This lap quilt was one of the fastest I have ever pieced!  It uses a layer cake and 3 more fabrics to create this stunning design. I actually used a fat quarter bundle of The Water's Edge by Moda on mine and plan on using the rest of it for another quilt.

I wanted a softer look from my quilting this time so I choose to do loopy freehand meandering in a white thread. I used some leftover fabric for the back in the strip.  The photo looks weird for some reason, but it is just as soft looking as the front.

You can find Myra's new pattern in her Craftsy shop here.

Quilt A Long Progress

I've been working on two QALs this month.  The first one is A Trip Around the World QAL with Myra of Busy Hands Quilts.  I have all my rows ready to sew together.

The second one is the Charming Plus QAL with Tisha of Quilt Therapy. I have started working on my blocks.  My cute helper is always close by!

Since I was showing what I have been working on, I thought I'd throw in a couple more photos.  I made some whole wheat bread today with fresh ground wheat.  Yummy!

And finally I've been quilting a stunning rainbow quilt for a customer. I will be posting about this one soon.  Here's a sneak peak:

Check back tomorrow as I have a finished quilt and a new pattern from Myra to share with you!

Modern Baby Quilt in Solids

You probably know that I have been working on yellow and gray quilts for that last month, but this was the first one that started it all.  It's made from Kona Cotton.  I used Citurs, Shadow, Medium Gray, Pepper, and White.  I am really loving the Pepper instead of the Black. I used the Accuquilt again to cut the HSTs.

I quilted it with straight lines on my longarm using a ruler.  Yes, I could have quilted it so much faster with a meander, but this quilt seemed too modern for meandering.  It was begging for straight lines.  I tried to ignore it, but it won the battle!

I found this cute gray and yellow print for the back.  The binding is the Medium Gray. So you'll be glad to know the last gray and yellow is ready to be quilted, so this obsession is almost over! Thanks for putting up with me!

Trip Around the World Quilt Along

Myra is hosting a trip around the world quilt along.  She is making a hers with the fabulous Gradations quilt kit from Craftsy.  I don't have any of that, so I decided to go country style.  Here are most of my fabrics.  I'm missing a dark brown and a pink/green floral blender. I am going to alternate each color with an off white print.

Grab some fabric and join us!  You have until October 23 to link up your fabric choices.  Then the cutting begins!  Here is the schedule from her blog:

The Yellow and Gray Continues...

36 x 40

Quilt number 3 in the yellow and gray series is this cute baby quilt.  I like that this one doesn't have a border and I got to use my Accuquilt HST die to cut the pieces.

There are 3 yellows and three gray put with Kona white.  I love the little black birds on the white tress.  They peak out here and there.

But the time I got to finishing this quilt, I was running low on large pieces of yellow and gray.  So 2 of these fabrics aren't even in the front.  But I think they work for the back.

One more to go with these fabrics.  The next one is made from scraps, but it isn't next on my to do list.  I have the top all laid out and ready to sew.  Hopefully I get to it soon!

Yellow and Gray Bricks and a Stash Report

First off, I want to thank everyone who voted for my Rainbow Bargello quilt.  It won the viewer's choice award of the Blogger's Quilt Festival. I was so excited to win! Thank you!

50 x 60

I have spent the last 4 weeks teaching a friend to quilt.  She chose this easy brick pattern in a gray and yellow.  I thought it would nice to make a quilt in the same colors.  Her colors were a lot brighter than mine, which is what I would usually pick.  But I had these softer, more muted colors in my stash.

I did throw in a couple darker valued fabrics from the baby quilts I have been working on this month. But for the back I used all the softer colored fabrics.

And while I don't usually like a scrappy binding, it works with this quilt. I think that is because it blends in and doesn't stand out.  I'm loving this quilt.  Easy quilts can be nice too.  This one is for sale in my Etsy shop.

September Stash Report

I've been a good girl this month!  And finally I've made a dent in my stash. And it seems the crazy, busy sewing days of the summer are finally over.  I'm glad.  That was a lot of quilting.  A girl has other things to do besides quilt, don't you think?
