Midday Morsel - A New Pattern!

 60" x 72"

I have a new pattern for you! It's called Midday Morsel. The one you see above is the lap/throw size. It's made from the Moda line Sunday Supper. This pattern comes in three sizes: baby, lap,and queen and is fat quarter friendly.

The blocks create a fun secondary pattern that reminds me of weaving. It's a modern block using some old time favorites.

Seems I never remember to order a backing fabric when I purchase a fat quarter bundle. I guess I just get so excited when it come to buying fabric! But I was able to find a print in similar colors at the store the other day.

You can find my Midday Morsel pattern in my Etsy shop along with some other great patterns as well. Have a great weekend!

Castle Dreams Baby

37" x 37"

This little baby quilt came about because I found 4 matching layer cake pieces sitting in a pile on the shelf and decided there had to be a pattern to use them. Well, turns out there is! Castle Dreams is a pattern from Busy Hands Quilts. All I needed was three matching prints and I could whip up this cute baby quilt.

A couple of matching strips were added to the back to make it big enough since the green piece was a tad short. And I had enough of the green from the front to do the binding.

I'm making a small dent in my batting scraps one baby quilt at a time!

Double 4 Patch

60 x 68

Sometimes I ask myself, "Why did you ever buy that fabric?" As I type that sentence, I am reminded that I didn't actually buy the cream floral fabric in this quilt. It was given to me a long time ago. But I did purchase the red floral fabric. I don't think the problem here is the fabric. I think it is the pattern I chose to use up the not so loved cream floral print.

And in my defense, I picked out this pattern years ago too. I even found all the strips cut and ready to sew along with my graph paper with the math all figured out. So there wasn't much I could do about changing it at this point. All I could do was hope for the best and maybe it wouldn't be too bad.

It's a little plain and some of the red flowers on the cream print hit the wrong spots, but it is done and done is good. Maybe someone will appreciate the old fashioned look of this quilt.

The back has the same red print from the front. I do like this fabric at least. And as I said before, done is good.  I wanted to show you this quilt so you can see not every choice I make is a good one. And I can show myself, that my choices have gotten better over the years. Or at least I think so!

Yellow and Gray Baby Pinwheel

40" x 40"

Another baby quilt for me this week. And more batting scraps used and out of the closet. I love the look of this one, soft and sweet for baby. I used a mixture of bold and soft yellows and grays for this one.

I went with a lighter yellow binding to finish the quilt. The darker ones seemed too bold for this little beauty.

Quick and easy finish for the week. Good thing too since I had to have my sewing machine worked on. Somehow the bobbin case got broken. Apparently, I had a couple singer bobbins hiding in my Janome ones and that is a big no-no according to the sewing machine repair guy. But it's all fixed now and she's purring much better now.
