Here's a fun and happy quilt pattern for you called Sunnyside. It's a new one from Myra at Busy Hands Quilts. I love that it uses multiple fabrics in 3 colors. I chose my favorite colors to make this quilt which worked out great since I have so many fabrics in turquoise and lime green.

It doesn't show up real great in the photos, but I used white and off white prints for my background fabrics. There are arrows, circles, and flowers on those white prints along with some other tone on tone prints. I just love how it looks!

This is a pretty easy pattern and comes in a bunch of different sizes. I hope you'll go check out Myra's Christmas version. You can find her pattern here as well as all her other patterns.

Was glad to get the photos done because it was real windy yesterday. We have a big storm rolling in today and it is supposed to rain like crazy for the weekend.  Until next time!

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Poolside

Welcome to my entry in the Blogger's Quilt Festival hosted by Amy's Creative Side. It's a great time of year where we share our love of quilting!

My second entry is this beauty called Poolside. I used a collection of fabrics from my favorite fabric designer - Bonnie and Camille - to make this quilt. I may have made a few too many fat quarter bundle purchases in their fabric lines this year. If you can't break out the fav fabric for your own design, what can you use it for?

I used a B & C print for the back too. I love that it has a white background. This pattern was inspired by summer, swimming, and sparkling pools. Perhaps I was dreaming of what my backyard should look like someday!

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Sweetart

It's time for the Blogger's Quilt Festival, a time when quilters all over gather and share beautiful quilts hosted by Amy's Creative Side. I am entering my favorite quilt from this year...Sweetart!

It is my favorite for two reasons. The first is it's my own design. This year I started writing patterns. I've probably been playing around in EQ8 a little too much, but it is so much fun. The bright rainbow of color reminds me of candy and I'm a big candy fan!

The second reason this is my favorite quilt is because of the quilting. Because  I was working with all solids in this quilt I decided the quilting needed some special attention. I developed a plan that would allow me to quilt all the way across a row without stopping. The texture is amazing!

The quilting shows so nicely on the back. I use one of my go to fabrics for the backing, a gray and white cross hatch. Black bind finishes the quilt to tie in the strips from the blocks.

Hunting Season - A New Pattern

We're getting so close to hunting season here in Oklahoma. I don't hunt, but have many friends that do. I have one friend in particular that loves all aspects of guns, bow and arrows, and hunting. He encouraged me to make this quilt. So in honor of him, I call this pattern Hunting Season.

You can make this quilt with three fabrics.  The pattern comes in two sizes - lap and twin/full.  The quilt is made in rows of rectangles. (Squares would take too long!) There are some colored graphics on the pattern page if you'd like to see some other combos.

Throwback Thursday - I Spy

I don't have many pre-blogging quilts to post about for Throwback Thursday. Since I want to participate, I've gathered a few of my favorite early blogging day photos to share with you.

You're gonna like this week's TBT post cuz it's got pictures of some cuties! I had been gathering novelty fabrics for a few years when I bought a box from a blogger to finish my collection. I spent several days cutting squares from all that fabric.

My helpers were then called upon to make kits for future use. They gathered one from each stack and placed them in ziploc bags. We labeled them so I would know how many were in each bag. I still have a whole lot of kits sitting in the closet.

Of course there were scraps left over so I cut them into 2.5" x 5" strips and made a couple quilts out of them. I wasn't able to not duplicate anything like you're supposed to, but they turned out cute anyway.  I even used scraps on the back to make the backing wide enough.

Here's my cutie pies! The red head is my youngest child. Her hair is still red, just not at dark. They're all trying to get into the picture!

The things we go through to get good pictures. Good help can be hard to find! Who can even notice the soccer cleats when you have 4 little ones running around?

This is the quilt made from the I-Spy kit. I don't remember exactly how many kits we made but it was over 20. Why did I make so many? Well, I intend to use these to teach ladies at my church how to sew. Then they will be quilted and donated. It's a long term goal I have. Good thing I have patience!
