Designing A Modern Quit

Wow, have I been busy cutting today!  Both the top and the bottom of this 2 sided quilt have been cut! 21 yards of fabric.  Whew! Here's the design plan I came up with.  It was inspired by the black and gray quilt on this post.  This quilt is for my room which is painted  a dark chocolate brown.  I say it looks like hershey bars on the walls!  This quilt should liven it up a bit.

This is the front fabrics ready to be  laid out. I finished that too today, but since it was laid out one row at a time and piled up, I didn't take a picture.

Pattern for the back.  I wanted a 2 sided quilt, but something my husband would like.  Stripes are a nice fit.

Backing fabric ready to be sewed in sets of 3 WOF wide!  I haven't decided on the quilting yet.  I really like the different types of quilting on the inspiration quilt, but I am not sure how that would look on the back. I wanted to quilt each color in it's own thread, but that might really mess up the back.  Any suggestions?

Lovely Minsitry Quilt

It's finally finished Karla Sue!  It sat on my quilting machine for so long.  Karla Sue sewed this top for our quilt ministry.  It was quilted with a meander in a light green color.  The back was made from the leftover pieces and  is unique!

Feedly - A Replacement for Google Reader

Hey folks!  I keep seeing people switching their blogs to Bloglovin and had to give a shout out for Feedly.  I tried both sites since the bad news about Google reader came out.  I tried Bloglovin first and I really didn't care for it as it was nothing like Google Reader.

So then I tried Feedly.  For me it works almost like Reader.  I have all my blogs listed in the left side and then ones that have a new post to read are darker than the ones that don't.  You can choose to see all your feeds or just the ones that need to be read.  Love that feature.  I don't have to go to each blog and then come back to find the next one.  That takes forever!   All I have to do it click on my folders (mine are sorted into categories like sewing, crafting, recipes, etc.) and I can scroll down through all the posts.

All my blogs transfered from Google Reader when I signed up for Feedly.  It was fast and simple.  If you liked Reader you really should go check out Feedly!  Here's a screen shot of my feedly.

This one reminds me of my grandpa...

It's the fabric, not the quilt that reminds me of my grandpa. My grandpa wore shirts that were possibly Hawaiian in nature or at least had multiple colors on them.  It's hard to remember 20 years ago.  But when I saw this fabric, it looked like him.  Now after picking fabric to go in my quilt, it doesn't look like him anymore, especially the bright blue and orange!  But I still love this quilt!  I need to work on not getting better  pictures.  The one above doesn't do it justice. The one below I took under some lights in the sewing room and it looks much better.
