I had several triangle pieces left over from this quilt and I wanted to use them for something. So we cut them into 2.5 inch squares and I designed this quilt just for those scraps! Every lady in quilt ministry sewed at lease 2 nine patches of the border. Such a great group effort.
The center needed a special touch, so we used the cricut to cut out a horse. It was appliqued to a brown block and framed with the checker board pieces. The brown fabric does have some texture to it, it's called mirage. But from a distance it looks solid so I quilted the straight lines on it to make it look like wooden slats. The criss cross on the checkerboard adds a nice touch to the outside frame.
