Here's my quilt for the Star Light Star Bright Quilt-A-Long hosted by Melissa of Happy Quilting. She has excellent step by step instructions for you on here blog! Thanks so much for all your hard work Melissa!
I started with my fabric pull:
Then we cut the pieces:
Next came the flying geese:
Sewing a million HST...no not that many, only 384!
Then we sewed the center star:
The sides:
And finally the corners:
The finished top:
1. I learned how to make flying geese.
2. 384 HST is way too many for one quilt!!!
3. I don't like to make quilts...I like to FINISH quilts!
I used the leftovers on the back:
While I did enjoy the quilt-a-long, I think I get a little ambitious and then impatient when making a quilt. It was hard to wait for the next week to sew the next section of the blocks. And I'll admit that I finished this last week because I just couldn't wait any longer!
Shannon this is incredible!!! Absolutely stunning!! What a beautiful finish!! And I am so happy that your first quilt-a-long was with me ;) And yes, there were a ton of HST's ;) You won't want to see any of those for a little while ;) Great job on finishing up and getting this all done. It is just amazing!!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!! What a lovely happy quilt. Well done.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love to FINISH too, which is exactly why I haven't done any QAL. I have looked at doing some after the fact, though. Your quilt is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove, love it. Front and the back <3
ReplyDeleteLove the colors your chose, and I am glad I didn't do a whole quilt, that was a lot of HST's, you did a beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteI just saw this on pinterest and had to tell you how much I love it. The finished quilt was well worth the effort of making all those HSTs!
ReplyDeleteI came across this on Pinterest and I wanted to say how much I like your quilt. I love the colors you chose!
ReplyDeleteOh Shannon!! This is beautiful beyond words!
ReplyDeleteI have a question however: what size block is this? I notice that the instructions have several different sizes to choose from, and layouts.
Which one is yours?
I'm posting this as anonymous, since none of the other options seem to fit me. =)

Thank you! My blocks are 16" (the 3x3 option) but I did 3x4 instead. You need 12 fat quarters instead of 9. Add an extra 1 yard or so of the background fabric.
DeleteThank you!!!! I so appreciate your quick reply!

DeleteShannon, I was wondering if your quilt if a good size for a double bed?
