What do you do...

when your son asks to redo his room?  You make him a new quilt of course!  He had one of the first quilts I made (which was before the Big Lady got here).  So I let him pick all his fabrics, the pattern, and his paint color.  These are not solids, but mirage looking fabrics we found at the local quilt shop. Except from the gray which is a mirage from Connecting Threads.

I had enough gray left over so I made him a simple pillow case.  He's happy since he did all the choosing and I'm happy it's done!

Carpenter's Star

I finally made a small quilt for my sewing room wall!  Since it was small, I wanted something harder than what I usually make.  So I picked one with half square triangles.  I even challeneged myself on the quilting.  I did straight lines on the inside parallelograms and tiny meandering on the white parts. (I need to practice even smaller!)  Then I feathered the border - still practicing that technique too!

Isn't She Cute?

This doll is so cute!  I made it for my little girl's birthday next month.  She saw the one on this website and picked the doll she liked best.  I even let her see the pieces cut.  She wanted to me make socks for it too.  So I added some that match her dress.  But then no more peaking!  (She's only going to be 3 so I'm hoping she'll forget about it!)  I cut the pieces in one day and sewed her the next morning.  It was really easy following the directions.  And this coming from a non sewer!  I only make quilts!!! It was so easy that I'm thinking of making her a skirt for her birthday too...oh no, I may be a sewer yet!  Hop on over to Make It - Love It and see the 3 dolls she  made.  They are fabulous.

I made a skirt for my doll, kinda following the directions from Make it Love it.  I'm not so good as to add sleeves or pockets.  Let's not push this sewing things huh?!  But she has directions for boys and girls clothes that would be nice to make.

Pixilated Horse Quilt Finished!

Here is the finished quilt that I started in November.  I love the look of the 5 differet cream fabrics that my son choose.  The horse turned out great too, except if I were to do it again I would choose some brown grays for his nose.  The grays stand out too much especially when you are closer to the quilt.  

I mapped out the whole picture, counting square and cutting as big a strip as I could so there would be less sewing.  The strips go up and down, but you could go sideways if you wanted.  

Used the leftovers on the back, except for the top strip.  I was running a little short!  I used brown thread to quilt the horse and cream for the rest.  I also outlined the horse, which I would not do again.  It doesn't add anything to the front and it is visible on the top strip on the back.    I will definetly make another pixilated quilt again, perhaps somethinig else next time!

Slashed Squares

Love this pattern with this fabric!  Don't remember the exact name of the pattern.  I made mine with all fat quarters and used the remaining fabric on the back.  This quilt is for our Quilt Ministry.
